When You Should Double Down to Increase Your Chances of Winning in Blackjack

Category :

During blackjack gaming, you are always on the look out for doubling down scenarios. This great opportunity increases your chances of beating the dealer's edge as you now have good cards and you definitely want to increase the opportunity of winning even more money!
The rules on some casinos on doubling down are:
1) When you have a 10 or 11 as a total value - you will double down hoping for an ace or value of 10 respectively.
2) Some places allow you to double down even after splitting cards - this opportunity must not be missed!
When you employ basic strategy correctly, you will double down based purely on the probability of mathematics, when you have an upper hand to beat the dealer at blackjack. This is because the house now holds a lousy card and the chances of the dealer going bust is between 37 to 41%!
In basic strategy, the worst cards for the dealer are cards with a value of 4 or 5 or 6. There are other occasions when you will still double down to the dealer's up card of nine or ten. As this is part of basic strategy, in the long run even though with a nine or ten value up card from the dealer looks wrong to double down, it still holds true and you will win more than following your instinct.
If you are afraid of doubling down due to the bets are too big and you start to worry, then it is most probably that you are playing at a table with stakes too high for your liking. Go and find a table with a bet minimum suitable such that you will not break out a sweat when doubling down.
Do not be conned by the casinos to think that doubling down situations are not good! Doubling down situations allow you to increase your winnings by a bigger margin!
Sometimes doubling down can go against you. When you have such bad trends, then you might not want to continue to play at all. The point here is not to play against basic strategy even at times it might not be promising towards your favour. Do not be tempted to use your gut feelings!
In the end, when you play blackjack in doubling down situations, you tend to worry as the bet size has increased 2 times and you only get one more card to be opened up for you. That is why in the end it is all about controlling your emotions and having a good self-discipline on money management when heading out to the casinos.
